Help Pretty Horses Rescue Survive COVID-19

A Message From Our Founder Krystal Cates…

We are entering our 13th year of rescuing at Pretty Horses Ranch. With the unwaivering support of our sponsors and the community we have provided support for these animals through independent fundraising, trail rides, sponsorships and private donations. The sense of community here at Pretty Horses Ranch has made it what it is today.

Currently we are heading into the season that traditionally has been our most lucrative time of year. With cancelled events, no scheduled rides, limited donations, and loss of Airbnb rental income all of our normal revenue streams have abruptly been cut off.

The first step we have taken is to cut all unnecessary expenses by any means possible. We feed 600 lbs of hay to our horses each day! One square bale is 75 lbs @ $15 , that’s $120 a day and $43,800 a year just for hay.

Our goal is to insure 3 months of adequate care for our animals. With our consistent monthly income minus our minimum outgoing expenses we are currently short by $3,400 per month. In order to get through this pandemic we need to raise a minimum of $10,200.

The fundraising goal to help during COVID-19 seems daunting but I have personally witnessed this community of animal lovers and their friends generously pour out their hearts for this ranch, these animals and the cause that we all fight for. I speak for all of the animals here at Pretty Horses Ranch when I say that any help, support, and advice will be humbly received with the utmost heartfelt gratitude.

We are sympathetic to this delicate time where everyone is feeling the strain of a frozen economy. We are all stuck at home feeling helpless as we all watch our contingency plan and reserves diminish. No one has proven 100% immune to COVID-19. If you feel like you can contribute monetary funds we need and welcome your support. If you want to help but are like the many people who have been temporarily laid off we need your time, your energy and your ideas. We will take all of the help we can get.
