Romeo’s Story…
When we first rescued this pitiful horse, he was nothing to look at...weak, starving; just another nameless horse tied by the side of the road in Baja. But then I looked closer. Someone had cut off the top of his ears. I looked deep into his eyes. He was clearly wounded and angry, yet I saw something else, too. Fear. Just as this horse had been wounded by a human, I had been wounded by a horse (unintentionally) many years ago. He was afraid...just like me.
Together, over the past 6 years, we have learned to trust each other. He is no longer afraid. And neither am I. He is my hero, my love. He is my Romeo.
